Quality of code is generally of low standards... not following .Net conventions and has many quirks and small bugs.
by burningice on Dec 12 2010 at 4:41 AM

Love this cms. One question, how can you consider this fully stable when in the Member section, the member search DOES NOT WORK?
by hypnotoad31 on Nov 20 2010 at 3:35 PM

I've been using Umbraco for years. It's simply the best CMS tool for .NET. Simply amazing!
by tylerbrinks on Nov 16 2010 at 6:02 PM

If this was a pay product, it would be very good. Free and open source? Unbeatable. I have yet to find something I can't accomplish in Umbraco with little to moderate effort.
by jlathigee on Nov 5 2010 at 11:09 PM

The best Umbraco release so far. Blizzering fast and such an easy tool to use. Both for my customers as editors and me as a developer.

We have used 4.5.2 for the last three projects and it really rocks! We love the new XML schema and the editors love the fast UI in Umbraco (backend)

Umbraco 4.5.2 is a good step in the right direction, with speed, architectural and UI improvements. Haven't come across any bugs while using it yet, and installs perfectly on shared hosting. Integrated Lucene (Examine) functionality is a plus, too.

Umbraco rocks. Especially 4.5.2; lot's of improvements and fixes, Linq2Umbraco, superb back-end!
by kipusoep on Nov 4 2010 at 7:20 PM

I think the user-base speaks volumes about quality of this product. Besides that, I wouldn't pick anything else for our CMS implementations. This is purely based on user friendliness of back-office and rich extensibility of the underlying framework for custom implementations. Splendid work Umbraco HQ!

Great product, not perfect yet but well on the way...
by brendan_rice on Nov 4 2010 at 6:22 PM

Excellent release - definitely fixed some of the bugs I had in a previous version. Runs faster and smoother! Looking forward to future releases! Keep up the great work! Woot!

Simply the best CMS out there, if you can't get on with umbraco with all the tutorials and umbraco.tv then you shouldn't be making websites.. Simples...

Umbraco is a fantastic CMS and is constantly evolving. 4.5.2 adds a lot of new features such as the enhanced content tree's and a hugely improved XML schema. Also has an incredibly friendly and helpful community.
by richeym on Nov 4 2010 at 5:53 PM

Umbraco is the best open-source .NET CMS and the current release builds upon the foundations of earlier releases and adds improved tree handling. Like any large project there are a few bugs, but generally it is stable, fast and reliable. Highly recommended!
by Diplo on Nov 4 2010 at 5:35 PM

faster, easier to use, and easier to set up. Also has the massive benefit of being supported by one of the best (if not the best) communities, who are fast , super reactive, engaged and easy to approach
by ravimotha on Nov 4 2010 at 5:25 PM

Really good .NET based CMS...
by sledger on Nov 4 2010 at 5:25 PM

The best version of Umbraco to date. Stable, flexible and fast to get up and running. Developing a website with Umbraco is easy and painless, once you have learned the basics. That is just the software. The community surrounding it is equally fantastic.
by bjawnie on Nov 4 2010 at 5:19 PM

Very easy to install, simple and intuitive to use. The framework allows you to expand and integrate with other data sources with ease. A friendly and helpful community are a bonus and have expanded my knowledge much more rapidly than trial and error. Looking forward to future releases. Well done Umbracians!

The most stable and feature-rich release of Umbraco! Installed on my WinHost shared hosting within 5-mins, no problems! Happy user!
by leekelleher on Nov 4 2010 at 5:18 PM

Excellent product, been using Umbraco since 3.0.3 and it only gets better and better. Love the LINQ integration and the new search functionality (Examine) and all the new, or imporoved features I forgot. If someone says cms, I say "Umbraco"!
by rsoeteman on Nov 4 2010 at 5:15 PM

Downloaded the latest 4.5.2 today, uploaded to our servers for 2 clients, installs no problem. Wish some other CMS's were this easy.
by prec_tommy on Nov 4 2010 at 5:14 PM

Happy with this release. Works for everything we need.
by BlackMangoPhoto on Nov 4 2010 at 5:14 PM

Very happy with this release. We are now using this release for all new sites on our production environment. The Umbraco team have done it again. Lx

too many bugs, code is not professionally written hence hard to fix bugs.
by cemsisman on Nov 4 2010 at 12:36 PM

Downloaded the lastest build 4.5.2 and uploaded to my hosting account, and got this error when I tried to install: Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.Web.Preview, Version=1.0.61025.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified. Missing assembly in a stable build? I am disappointed.

In certain areas Umbraco really excels. In others it could do a lot better. I see that webservices.dll was reported missing as far back as mid-September so I'm disappointed this easy fix has not been addressed. (Currently downloading the source to make it myself, but it would have been much better to get an "official" version of the file.)
by ColinAngusMackay on Oct 29 2010 at 12:51 AM

I am not able to download the source code... I tied to download the changeset 78779. Could you anyone please tell me where to download the full source code.

I cannot leave a comment to the article and I am asked to leave a comment here (why?). So I am leaving it. On the page first paragraph says: "Watch a five minute introduction video http://umbraco.org/documentation/videos/getting-started/what-is-umbraco" but the link does not work. I am pointed to the documention (wiki/docs/whatever).

This is a great, fast and solid release. Being used on many high-traffic sites with thousands of nodes. Umbraco's concepts are perfect for template and article-based websites.

ther are lot of things which still need to be done...
by nocher on Oct 18 2010 at 11:10 AM

The release is faster, but there are some major bugs: - Media nodes are not sortable after uploading - On MySQL the DB is not updated - On MySQL the DB indexes are not good enough, they simply are not there. - Copy/Clone a node which uses a property of the type Numeric, causes a SQL exception, because it's trying to add a empty string "" to the INT db column of the datatype ...

Wonderful release, haven't seen a single glitch yet

Hi, look like version .net 3.5 web deploy is missing umbraco.webservices.dll in /bin folder, maybe is possible upload in revision with this missing library? thanks
by keriosp on Sep 18 2010 at 2:40 PM

Great release, I have just started developing a new site on 4.5.2 and the improvements over the 4.0.x branch are very useful, love the speed!
by sebastiaan on Sep 3 2010 at 8:03 AM

Awesome! Lots of great new features to keep users happy and even more cool stuff for developers. We are using this build on all our production sites.
