This is my first experience with Umbraco. I downloaded the source code commit version commit 1a8fa0763133 and tried to compile it with VS 2010 on Windows 7. It gives me a lot of compile errors.' Error 226 Package restore is disabled by default. To give consent, open the Visual Studio Options dialog, click on Package Manager node and check 'Allow NuGet to download missing packages during build.' You can also give consent by setting the environment variable 'EnableNuGetPackageRestore' to 'true'. Umbraco.Tests I have set the environment variable but it still does not work. Error 8 Package restore is disabled by default. Wasted 8 hours in trying to get this compiled. But failed. Very frustrating experience. NopCommerce compiles in a single shot.

I agree with you Mike..Nice Post Duckie - i too have searched far and wide for this.. However, let me start off by saying that I'm new to the Umbraco CMS and the associated web services.. I have to access an existing web service created on the Umbraco CMS from a HTML5 web application that I'm busy creating .. How would I go about referencing my HTML page to the web service ?

This is the list of known issues in the Umbraco CMS 5 Beta 1 release

Supported db's in Beta 1: Sql Server 2008 & SqlCe 4
It is highly recommended to use Sql Server 2008 (Express, Standard, etc...) instead of SqlCe 4 for the Beta 1 release as the new permissions queries have not been optimized yet so the back office tends to run a bit slow on SqlCe 4.
Custom connection strings in the Installer only work if you use SQL Server at the moment
If you choose SQL Server, Umbraco 5 only supports 2008 onwards but we don’t give you a friendly notice if you try on 2005 yet.
Removing a property from a doctype that has some content throws a YSOD
You cannot currently create Packages in the back-office UI, but you can create packages using the Nuget Package Explorer and install them via the packaging UI
Packages currently do not support packaging any content, media, macros or any other Umbraco entity
Only some text has been 'Localized' many labels, etc... are not being processed by the engine
Beta 1 does support Medium Trust but it is very close! There's only one issue to resolve which we've already begun work on.
Cannot copy content nodes to the absolute root node, currently displays a YSOD
Tree does not update after sort operation
When creating saving new content, the tree node is re-selected and re-loaded

Please - whenever you put out a CTP release, put out detailed and complete installation instructions, starting from scratch. We all understand there will be bugs in the CMS itself, but the installation process should be reasonably reliable. Otherwise the "community" will simply become just a few technicians who are willing to spend hours trying to survive a minefield.

E:\test\umbraco-ec42d0d5a8cc\umbraco_ec42d0d5a8cc\Source\Web Apps\Umbraco.CMS.Web.UI\Umbraco.Cms.Web.UI.csproj : error : The project file 'E:\test\umbraco-ec42d0d5a8cc\umbraco_ec42d0d5a8cc\Source\Web Apps\Umbraco.CMS.Web.UI\Umbraco.Cms.Web.UI.csproj' cannot be opened. The project type is not supported by this installation. I am getting this error when I downloaded the source code. I am running on windows 7 and visual studio 2010. Please help me out to compile the code properly. Also from where I can get the dB script for this application.
